Yet his smile shows inner happiness, quiet confidence, and strength.Īn inspiration to all who knew him, Oscar was an amazing, loving brother, a fierce friend, a joy of a son, and a kind-hearted, thoughtful, beautiful soul. When this picture was taken, his hair was falling out (for the second time), and he was fully aware of his prognosis. This picture sums up all of those qualities. He was, just like his school basketball team and the origin of his name, a Warrior. Oscar’s resilience, courage, optimism, grace, and determination were nothing short of remarkable. Through all the many scans, surgeries, biopsies, tests, needle pokes for bloodwork, IV chemotherapy, injections, PICC lines and butterflies, trips to Halifax for chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and literally thousands of pills, he never complained. Predeceased by his grandparents Gerald Hill and Leslie and Audrey Waugh.
